Leslie Bass has been nominated by the Nominating Committee to run for member of the Nominating Committee. If you support Leslie’s candidacy, please enter your name and email below and click submit. You must be a member of the church to sign a nominating petition.

Leslie with her husband Jon and young children came to MLUC in 1986. Soon after they joined the church and ever since have been actively connected. Their children Abigail (now 43) and Arthur (now 41) attended Sunday School and youth programing; both fully engaged in JYG and YRUU through which they made lasting friendships in the Joseph Priestly District and gained confidence and assumed responsibilities in leadership roles.

In their first year at MLUC, Leslie and Jon co-chaired the Membership Committee.  Over the years Leslie served on and chaired: the Personnel Committee, a Committee to Update the Personnel Policies, the Adult Religious Education Committee, and the Memorial Services Reception Committee.  For many years she managed hospitality for the annual Ski Spree/Mt. Snow Trip. She also taught Sunday School for two years and co-lead the JYG for one year.

In 2008 and 2013 Leslie and Jon traveled with a group from MLUC to our Partner Church in Várfalva, RU.  When MLUC hosted a group from the Várfalva congregation in 2014, the Basses enjoyed the wonderful opportunity to share their home with two of the visitors and reciprocate the warm hospitality they themselves had received earlier in Várfalva.

Presently Leslie assists with MLUC’s regular hosting of guests through the Interfaith Hospitality Network.  She is a MLUC gardener and last year installed a new Native Plants Garden at the lower entrance of our building;  Leslie is an avid lifelong gardener.  She also helps manage the Church Bookstore, is a continuing participant in an Evening Book Group and the Spanish Conversation Group at MLUC and sings with the Intergenerational Choir.  Although she loves to read, on a good day Leslie would prefer to be outside enjoying nature and gardening.
