Ways to Serve
Main Line Unitarian Church provides many opportunities for you to serve our community.
Sunday Volunteers
Would you like to make Sunday mornings at MLUC more meaningful? Join the volunteer team! Sign up for a regular monthly spot or fill in whenever you’re available. To sign up or learn more, please email the volunteer coordinators listed below.
Greeter
Greet visitors and members as they enter the church on Sundays. This is a great opportunity to warmly welcome everyone to your church community. Coordinator: Linda Farr
Welcome Table
Welcome visitors to MLUC. Welcome-table volunteers greet and orient first-time visitors, direct individuals to pamphlets about Unitarian Universalism and church programs, and register visitors interested in signing up for our mailing list. Coordinator: Nina Selsor
Green Striper
Maintain environmentally sustainable practices. Green Stripers assist during the Sunday morning coffee hours, ensuring that paper and plastic waste is kept to a minimum. Coordinator: Mary Kane
Usher
Assist with the logistics during Sunday services. Being an usher requires some training, which is available for interested volunteers. Ushers hand out programs, assist with seating needs, control the doors once the service has started, collect and count Outreach Offering contributions, and count the attendance. Coordinator: David Hucker
Worship Associates
Worship Associates are members who assist our minister, Rev. Dr. Neal Jones, with our Sunday services, sometime making announcements, performing readings, or leading meditations. They also organize our worship services in collaboration with guest ministers. The Worship Committee meets monthly, discussing worship issues, reviewing services, and planning upcoming services. Chair: Terry Dixon
Gardeners
MLUC’s beautiful grounds are designed and maintained by a large dedicated team of gardners with a wide range of gardening skills. You can join the team and pair up with someone to maintain a small patch or the landscape. To learn more, contact Sabine Rehm.
Teachers
Faith development at MLUC relies on volunteer teachers in our Sunday-school program and volunteer youth leaders for our middle-school and high-school age youth. Contact our Director of Lifespan Faith Development, Dawn Star Sarahs-Borchelt, to learn more.
