Pathway to Membership

Joining a church is an important life decision, and one we take seriously. Membership at Main Line Unitarian Church can be life-changing. We welcome and encourage your exploration of Unitarian Universalism and this community. Here you will find a diverse community of Unitarian Universalists (UUs) who practice their faith in meaningful ways.

Because most new members come to Unitarian Universalism from other faiths, our Pathway to Membership is an important process. It will provide you with the knowledge you need to help you determine if Unitarian Universalism is the right faith, and if MLUC is the right faith community for you.

The Pathway to Membership (PTM) process will help you get to know our community and show you, in concrete ways, how to become an active part of it. During the Covid-19 pandemic, PTM moved from in-person classes to a video series you can access on Padlet. Feel free to watch the videos at your own pace and continue visiting the Padlet as it will be updated regularly with information on upcoming programs.

Prospective new members are encouraged to get to know the community and take part in church life. Joining our mailing list for Enotes and the monthly Newsletter is a good way to start. You may also want to join the Community Matters email group (send a request to Changes4CommunityMatters@gmail.com) and attend MLUC classes, programs and events as much as you are able. We encourage you to request a Meet the Members Zoom during which a small group of friendly MLUC members will share with you their MLUC experiences and suggestions. Staff members are happy to meet with you one-on-one through Zoom as well.

The membership process will be most meaningful when you are able to take part in MLUC life and get involved with programs that interest you. We can help you with that. Please contact our Membership Coordinator Madelaine Sayko for more information.
