Mortality Musings offers a welcoming space to share thoughts and stories, ask questions, explore doubts and fears, and engage with topics related to our mortality. These gatherings are open to anyone curious about the subject, not just those facing end-of-life concerns.
Each session will begin with a covenant, a brief centering practice, and a few moments of silence. Facilitator Sue Comptonwill offer a prompt to start the conversation, which will then unfold organically. These evenings are intentionally unstructured so participants can shape the discussion together.
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR
Sue Compton is a lay chaplain at MLUC and a certified death doula. A caregiver by nature and by trade, she raised four children and spent more than 20 years as a nanny caring for other families. She completed death doula training with Going with Grace in 2025 and holds proficiency certification through the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance. She volunteers with hospice locally. Being present for the deaths of both of her parents—two very different experiences—drew her to this work, which she approaches with an open heart and genuine curiosity.
