Lecture Lunch
Wednesday, September 10 @ 11:45 AM – 2:00 PM

Lecture Lunches are held on the second Wednesday each month from September through June. They feature a guest speaker drawn from the church or outside community. There is a $10 charge to cover food costs.
This Month’s Speaker: Mark Boorse, Access Services
Topic: When Our Neighbor Lives Outside: The role of the church in responding to the housing and homelessness crisis
The twin issues of housing and homelessness have reached a crisis in our communities. Skyrocketing rents have led to sharp increases in eviction rates and record numbers of people experiencing street homelessness. The public debate about
homelessness has become increasingly political and polarizing. Short-sighted policy decisions are increasingly aimed at getting rid of visible homelessness without finding real solutions. Services are finding themselves overwhelmed by need and the capacity gap is widening.
The good news is that there are answers. All over the country, innovative leaders have seen the need and responded to a call to help their neighbors and strengthen their local communities. And the church has been a significant part of that. Join us as we explore the role of the church in leading a community level response to this issue. Discover ways that each of us and all of us can be solution-makers.
