Housing Justice Discussion
Sunday, September 14 at 11:30 AM — 12:30 PM

Following our service on Sunday, Sept. 14, join us for a conversation about MLUC’s expanded Housing Justice work. Together, we’ll explore the realities of housing insecurity in Montgomery County—where rising rents and stagnant wages are putting homes out of reach for many working families—and how our congregation can respond.
This discussion will feature reflections from our Housing Justice Team, guest speaker Mark Boorse of Access Services, and insights drawn from books including Evicted, There Is No Place for Us, Rough Sleepers, and They Just Need to Get a Job.
Together we’ll explore:
- Why “home” is more than shelter—it’s dignity, safety, and belonging
- How rising rents, stagnant wages, and lack of affordable housing fuel homelessness and insecurity
- Relief and support strategies already making a difference in Montgomery County
- Practical ways our congregation can engage in advocacy, support, and sustained justice work
This is the kickoff of an ongoing series. Everyone is welcome—whether seeking to learn, share, or take action.
