Share Your Vision in MLUC’s Upcoming Art Show

What does home mean to you?

Is it safety, love, comfort, a favorite chair, a window view, or a moment of connection? As part of MLUC’s upcoming HOME Project, we’re creating a community-wide art show called A Home Transforms Lives—and we want your artwork to be part of it.

We welcome all kinds of art, in any size or format—paintings, photos, sculpture, fiber art, digital media, you name it. The only guideline: let your work reflect a positive vision of what “home” means to you.

This show is part of our broader commitment to housing justice. Through creativity, community, and compassion, we hope to open hearts and inspire action.

🗓️ Art Drop-Off Info

  • Drop it off before or after the Sunday service on Sept. 1 at 10 a.m.; or

That’s it—The MLUC Art Group will handle the installation for you.

🏠 About the HOME Project

In neighboring Montgomery County—as in much of the country—stable, affordable housing is increasingly out of reach for working families. Rising rents, stagnant wages, and a shortage of affordable homes have created a crisis where even teachers, healthcare workers, and service employees often cannot afford to live in the communities they serve.

Housing insecurity isn’t just about homelessness—it’s about the stress of overcrowded living, frequent moves, or choosing between rent and food. It’s a deeply human issue, and it demands more than charity—it calls for sustained, justice-rooted action grounded in our Unitarian Universalist values.

The HOME Project is MLUC’s long-term initiative to meet this challenge with compassion and commitment. We are:

  • Building partnerships with local nonprofits and agencies already doing this critical work
  • Engaging our congregation through learning, hands-on service, and multi-generational participation
  • Working for systemic change through advocacy, education, and coalition building

This summer and fall, the HOME Project comes to life with opportunities to learn, serve, and connect.

Whether you’re new to the issue or ready to dive deeper, there’s a place for you in this work. Together, we’re laying the foundation for a more just, compassionate future—because a home transforms lives.
