Joy and Resistance is a new art exhibit featuring work by The Art Group (TAG), now on display in the Fireside Gallery at Main Line Unitarian Church through March 15.

The exhibit explores the idea that choosing joy, creativity, and beauty—especially in difficult or oppressive times—can be a form of strength. Rather than denying hardship, the artists invite us to see moments of light, connection, and expression as ways to build resilience and resist despair. Art becomes fuel for survival, meaning, and change.

The paintings, photographs, and carvings in this show represent the group’s creative responses to that concept. Each piece offers a personal interpretation of how joy can coexist with struggle—and how making art itself can be an act of hope.

Members of The Art Group share this work with our community “as a way to help all of us through the present darkness and fear.” Visitors are encouraged to spend time with the pieces and share their thoughts and reflections.

We hope you’ll stop by the Fireside Gallery during coffee hour or anytime you’re in the building to experience Joy and Resistance for yourself.
