By including MLUC in your estate plans, you help sustain the church that sustains us.

Your legacy gift ensures that Main Line Unitarian Church will thrive for generations to come—providing a spiritual home, advancing justice, and nurturing community.

Why Legacy Giving Matters

Thanks to the abiding commitment of its founders, members, and friends over the years, Main Line Unitarian Church has developed into a strong liberal religious community—providing a welcoming home to those who seek spiritual sustenance, opportunities to clarify their values, and friends with whom to work toward a world of wholeness, justice, and love.

Now more than ever, a just and caring world needs Unitarian Universalism. By including MLUC in your estate plans, you will help ensure a vibrant future for our congregation that will last generations to come.

Why a Legacy Gift?

Legacy Gifts Will:

  • Leave you in control of your assets during your lifetime.
  • Offer you the opportunity to honor or memorialize a loved one, friend, or spiritual mentor who has helped transform your life.
  • Allow you to modify your gift to address changing circumstances.
  • Give you the satisfaction of knowing that you are making a positive and lasting difference—and that your impact will be felt long after your passing.

Your legacy sustains the church that has sustained you.

How to Give

Bequests Through Your Will

Your attorney can add a codicil to your will to leave a specific amount or percentage to MLUC.

Beneficiary Designations

Name MLUC as a beneficiary for life insurance, retirement accounts, or other financial assets.

EXAMPLES

Life Insurance:Name MLUC as a beneficiary using your insurer’s form. You keep ownership and flexibility; proceeds pass tax-free, and your estate receives a deduction.

Retirement Plans:Including an IRA of any type, a 401(k) or 403(b) plan, or an annuity. Simply fill out a Change of Beneficiary Form provided by your plan administrator. You will receive distributions throughout your life, after which MLUC will receive the designated remainder tax-free.

Charitable Remainder Trusts:These usually permit the donor to add or change beneficiaries; consider including MLUC as a beneficiary.

Your Gift at Work

At MLUC, bequests are designated to the General Endowment Fund unless otherwise specified in the estate documents. The General Endowment Fund is a lasting expression of our shared commitment to the church’s mission.

Each year, a portion of the fund’s earnings helps sustain worship, justice work, and programs—while the principal remains invested to benefit future generations. The Fund also supports special initiatives that reflect our values and priorities. In these cases, the Board recommends expenditures, which are subject to a vote of the congregation.

Your support helps ensure this legacy continues for generations to come.
