GROUP VOLUNTEER PROJECTS

SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2025: About 20 MLUC volunteers at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in West Norriton sorting and stocking items for sale. And in October, volunteers prepared food and supplies for the monthly TLC for the People distribution event in Norristown. Volunteers are still welcome to help out making sandwiches and donating supplies for their distributions, held the third Saturday each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. More opportunities to work with many dedicated community partners are available for individuals or small groups. Check out the links below or talk with team members to get some ideas of what might be a good match for you.

2026:  Get involved in MLUC’s foremost volunteer opportunity, as we continue to host homeless families at MLUC through Family Promise of MontCo and the Main Line. Sign up to prepare and share dinner with the families we are hosting, or to stay with them at the church building overnight. There will be at least four hosting periods in 2026. Sign up coming soon!

Norristown Hospitality Center has a range of volunteer opportunities, mostly between 7 am and 3 pm on weekdays, for people 18 and older. They also need overnight volunteers for their Code Blue shelter, which runs from October through April.

TLC for the People has a variety of opportunities, including preparing for and taking part in their Norristown distribution event each month.

Mitzvah Circle provides over 100 types of necessities for the whole family, including clothing, shoes, toiletries, and school supplies, so people in crisis can participate in daily life, employment, and school. They also have programs to distribute diapers and period supplies.  They have opportunities at their warehouse and distribution center in Lansdale for individuals and families (including children ages 6 and up) to help sort donations and distribute supplies.

Pottstown Beacon of Hope will have a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout 2026 as they work to open their new year-round shelter. For now, you can take part in the Adopt-A-Street program, with monthly work sessions to clean the street in front of the new location at 601 W. High Street in Pottstown. There also are opportunities to take part on working Committees.

MC 30% will be canvassing to build support for affordable housing in Upper Gwynedd in October and November 2025. Sign up to participate here.
