Through our Housing Justice project, we partner with local organizations to provide shelter, advocacy, and hope to those experiencing housing insecurity.
LOCAL PARTNERS
Family Promise Montco PA and Main Line
MLUC has partnered with Family Promise for over 15 years. Family Promise works with congregations like ours to help Montgomery County families experiencing poverty and homelessness. They provide emergency, transitional and supportive housing; aftercare; and emergency food relief. Four to six times each year, for a period of one to two weeks at a time, MLUC provides selected Family Promise clients with nightly shelter and evening meals prepared and hosted by our volunteers. Family Promise was our Offering Outreach recipient for July and August 2025.
Access Services provides a wide variety of services to residents of Philadelphia’s collar counties and beyond, including street outreach, street medicine, and rapid rehousing for homeless people. They partner with Your Way Home to assess individuals’ needs, match them with available resources, and walk alongside them as they face the challenges of housing insecurity and homelessness. Access Services is our Offering Outreach recipient for September 2025.
TLC For the People provide programs, services, and advocacy for homeless people in Montgomery County. They opened and ran a Code Blue shelter in Plymouth Meeting for the last two winters. For the last five years, they have run a monthly Outreach Event in Norristown to provide clothing, hygiene supplies and food to those in need. TLC For The People is our Offering Outreach recipient for October 2025.
MLUC’s relationship with Norristown Hospitality Center goes back more than ten years, and we recently rekindled it after a gap due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Center provides a low-barrier, full-service day shelter that provides food, showers, phone, fax, mail and access to social workers who can provide case management in emergency situations. Norristown Hospitality Center is our Offering Outreach recipient for November 2025.
Working with local churches and volunteers, Pottstown Beacon of Hope has provided winter shelter for people in need since the beginning of the COVID pandemic. They are building a year-round shelter that will open in early 2026. Pottstown Beacon of Hope is our Offering Outreach recipient for January 2026, and we’ll be working with them in cooperation with the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Pottstown .
