The Annual Fund is the primary source of funding that supports our church, our beloved community, and the work we do together to fulfill our mission and help our world. Please consider how much MLUC means to you and your family and imagine the possibilities that we can do all together this next year with your visionary support.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Annual Fund?

A pledge is a promise to give. A pledge to MLUC’s 2026–27 Annual Fund is a commitment to make a financial contribution during our next fiscal year, which runs from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027.

All members and friends of MLUC are asked to make an annual pledge in advance, so that the staff and Board may be informed stewards to plan responsibly and create a realistic budget for the next fiscal year.

What is an Annual Pledge?

Each family, members and friends of MLUC, is asked to make an annual pledge, a commitment of financial support in the next church fiscal year, so that the staff and Board may be good stewards in planning the range of our initiatives and yearly expenses and expenditures.

How much should I pledge?

Pledging is a personal and meaningful decision. Gifts of any amount matter in that they demonstrate shared participation, showing up together to sustain the community we love, each according to our means. Your pledge should reflect both your financial capacity and the role MLUC plays in your life. Our beloved community and our work supporting social justice partners in the wider world should allow us to feel generous and hopeful.

The Unitarian Universalist Association offers a fair giving guide to help households consider a pledge amount. Many people give between 3 and 7 percent of household income, with some aspiring to give more. If this is your first time pledging or, if you are looking for guidance on how much to give, please review the Giving Guide below. We invite you to give generously according to your means.

We also recognize that people come to this community with different circumstances. If your financial situation feels uncertain please know that you are welcome here, fully and without condition. Giving looks different in different seasons of life.

How do I make payments to fulfill my Annual Pledge?

Annual Fund pledges can be paid by a one time gift or set up as recurring payments in a number of ways: by check, online by credit or debit card, through Bill Pay from your bank, and by donating securities directly or from an IRA, DAF (donor advised fund) or other fund. For more information, see Ways to Make Payments, below.

What if I can’t complete my Annual Pledge?

Life happens and sometimes one can’t complete their entire pledge due to unforeseen circumstances. That’s OK. Please let our Congregational Administrator know so we can adjust budget plans accordingly.
