SUMMARY:Presentation of Draft Right Relations Covenant
DESCRIPTION:After months of listening\, story-sharing\, and community-wide Appreciative Inquiry sessions\, our Right Relations Task Force is ready to share what they’ve heard—and what they’ve built from it. \n\n\n\nJoin us on in the Main Meeting Room for a presentation of the draft Right Relations Covenant\, shaped by the voices of this congregation. This is your opportunity to see the covenant that reflects our shared values\, ask questions\, and offer feedback before it comes to a congregational vote in June. \n\n\n\nThis covenant is not a rulebook—it’s a living commitment to how we want to show up for one another. Come be part of bringing it to life. \n\n\n\nLearn more about the Right Relations Covenant and the process that created it.

SUMMARY:Opening Reception: The Politics of Joy
DESCRIPTION:An Exhibition by Artists Susan Ragland and Nina Grier of Historical Dream \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEnjoy hors d’oeuvres\, wine\, and a chance to meet artists Susan Ragland and Nina Grier in person. Free and open to all. \n\n\n\nThe exhibition continues through May 10\, 2026 and is viewable on Sunday mornings and by appointment. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Susan Ragland \n\n\n\nSusan Ragland is a self-taught artist whose focus has been to unwaveringly create joyful images of Black people affirming their human connections. Amidst bursts of color and intricate designs\, her paintings seek to examine the humanity of Black subjects while paradoxically depicting the ordinary: African Americans as regular folk\, sans the presence of historical trauma. Her work aims to imbue majestic feelings in viewers who have experienced a questioning of their being and beckon others to identify universally-shared Joy. \n\n\n\nShe has had a 30-year career creating and selling art largely outside of the conventional art circuits. Through private exhibits and by word of mouth\, her art has found its way into the permanent acquisitions of major art collectors throughout the U.S. including the Colored Girls’ Museum; a long-time host of ABC’s The View; professional athletes; George Washington University\, Temple University; various on-air news pundits\, and in the homes of regular folks. \n\n\n\n(Bio courtesy of Philadelphia Mural Arts\, where Ragland was a 2024–2025 Black Artist Fellow.) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Nina Grier & Historical Dream \n\n\n\nAfter a successful career in the healthcare industry and a re-settlement to her native town of Philadelphia\, Nina Grier wanted to make a difference locally and nationally. In 2015\, she founded Historical Dream\, an entity designed to show an appreciation of diverse cultural leaders throughout history who’ve helped shape the country and the world’s shared progressive interests. \n\n\n\nHistorical Dream has distinguished itself by showcasing famous characters including Lucretia Mott\, Frederick Douglass\, and Harriet Tubman\, as well as lesser-known figures such as Wong Chin Foo\, who advocated for the rights of the Chinese during the 19th century\, and Chief Sitting Bull. \n\n\n\n“In our minds\, it’s like an emblematic olive branch that reaches across the past to bridge a present and future America\,” says Ms. Grier. \n\n\n\n(Bio courtesy of historicaldream.com)

SUMMARY:Pat Jordan presents Betsy Ross
DESCRIPTION:Betsy Ross is often remembered only as the woman who sewed the first American flag. This engaging one-woman performance explores the fuller story of her life as a skilled craftswoman\, business owner\, and Philadelphian living through the upheaval of the American Revolution. \n\n\n\nThrough dramatic storytelling\, you’ll meet Betsy as a real person—navigating war\, loss\, and independence while building a life of her own in a changing nation. Her story offers a fresh perspective on a familiar figure and brings an important Philadelphia patriot to life in a way that is both informative and entertaining. \n\n\n\nAll proceeds support Main Line Unitarian Church. \n\n\n\nPresented and performed by Pat Jordan\, accomplished actress and member of the Heritage Theatre Guild’s Famous American Women program. \n\n\n\nIncludes a post-show Q&A. \n\n\n\nThis program is part of the America250PA commemoration.

SUMMARY:Right Relations Covenant Inquiry Meeting - Virtual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Zoom \n\n\n\nJoin us for an inquiry meeting as we begin creating MLUC’s first Right Relations Covenant—a shared\, aspirational promise that will shape how we live and engage together as a community. \n\n\n\nThis gathering is an opportunity to learn what a Right Relations Covenant is (and what it is not)\, why MLUC is developing one\, and how the process will unfold. We’ll explore how a covenant of shared aspirations can serve as a foundation for future processes and practices that support healthy relationships within the congregation. \n\n\n\nParticipants are invited to ask questions\, share reflections\, and offer input as we begin this collaborative work together. \n\n\n\nAll are welcome. No prior experience or preparation is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to listen and engage. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDiscussion Questions \n\n\n\nDuring this session we will discuss the following: \n\n\n\n\nOur mission statement is “We transform lives through love\, service\, and our welcoming faith.” What behaviors do you see regularly that fulfill this mission?\n\n\n\nConsidering the principles and UUA shared values that unite us as a congregation\, how do you see this in practice at MLUC?\n\n\n\nOur shared values say\, “Love is at the center of everything we do.” Especially when we don’t see eye-to-eye\, and wish to move forward and resolve conflict\, what does this look like?\n\n\n\nMany congregations create a covenant and then it becomes a document forgotten in a file or a framed statement on a wall that no one looks at. What could we do to make sure our covenant becomes a guiding and transformative force at MLUC? Be specific.

SUMMARY:Candidate Petition Training
DESCRIPTION:This training\, offered by MLUC’s Social Justice Team\, will introduce participants to Pennsylvania’s candidate petitioning process and explain how individuals can take part legally and effectively. \n\n\n\nBecause candidates must collect petition signatures in order to appear on the ballot—during the petitioning window of February 17 through March 10—this training provides an early opportunity to understand how community members can help shape who voters will be able to choose in the 2026 election. \n\n\n\nParticipants will learn what petitioning involves\, what the rules are\, and what options exist for getting involved\, including hosting a small signing gathering\, collecting signatures door-to-door\, or attending a local signing event in their community in coordination with the political party of their choice. \n\n\n\nNo prior experience is needed.

SUMMARY:Kate Knudsvig & Richard Hearn: Traditional Irish Duo
DESCRIPTION:Kate Knudsvig and Richard Hearn are a dynamic duo in Irish traditional music. Based in Baltimore and Boston respectively\, they bring together Richard’s seasoned experience as an international accompanist and Kate’s elegant synthesis of classical training with traditional Irish style. Richard has toured widely throughout Europe and North America\, performing with renowned artists such as Billy McComiskey\, Steph Geremia\, and Sarah Collins\, and he directs the Baltimore Irish Music School as well as teaches at multiple regional festivals and workshops. Kate\, a highly sought-after violinist and fiddler with a sweetly brilliant sound\, is a fixture of Boston’s vibrant trad scene\, performing with the vocal supergroup Forsyth and touring nationally and internationally with acts including Celtic Thunder and Emmet Cahill. Boston and Baltimore are known for their distinctly Irish American styles of playing. Together\, Knudsvig and Hearn showcase the full breadth and character these styles have to offer.
